Iona Reworked

The unsold prints from my Iona exhibition – One Week On Iona – didn’t go in the bin. (Like art sometimes does, like in house moves or with keeping small studio spaces tidy.) They became something else.

I’ve been drawn to Caran D’Ache Neocolor II aquarelle pastels for some time and I thought the paper the exhibition prints were made on - Hahnemühle bamboo – was a good place to play. First dry pastel, then washed.

My practice is broad now – deliberately and comfortably so. I move between photography, illustration and writing. I move between hand and digital. I move between black and white and colour. I move between pen, ink, pastel, water colour, pencil, markers, graphite, charcoal. I move between without needing to master each one before picking up the next. The unsold print is not a failure waiting to be explained. It is raw material.

These are the results.
